This was a collaboration with an educational developer. (See the bottom of this page for the results of this activity.) # Personalized learning with genAI workshop initial planning Around mid-2023 I had cleared my strategic plan for how George Washington University (GWU) Libraries and Academic Innovation (LAI) would respond to generative Artificial Intelligence (genAI). The focus was primarily on faculty, although this included opportunities to influence staff and students. A big component of the plan was the creation of a genAI workshop series. With this in mind, I wanted to start with how genAI may be the solution to real personalized learning. ## Visual foundation for the "GenAI for Personalized Learning" workshop The below image was the initial scribbles of ideas to support a personalized learning workshop with genAI. Working with Faculty Development on this, I invited my partner into sit and talk through this with me, as well as add her thoughts with where we should go. ![[20231026_Personalized-Learning-Workshop.jpg]] In brainstorming this initial step, we wanted to establish some common viewpoints of personalized learning, show how personalized learning has been traditionally viewed, and talk a bit about how genAI may be the answer. To be honest, it was rather messy because we too were just figuring out the possibilities. But this board was a starting point for discussions and the eventual workshop — [[2023-2024, Personalized learning]]. ## 🎯 Results This activity led to the first genAI workshop from my department. This workshop was a joint collaboration and spoke early on towards leveraging genAI for personalized learning, which as since become a widely shared optimistic view of use. Some of the draw content was not used, but enabled a starting point to lead discussions on this kind of partnership.
